I’m really going to get into cooking lately. I made this awesome steak marinade the other night. If you like red wine vinegar, you’ll love this.

–Fill a dish with a generous amount of red wine vinegar
–Add generous amounts of garlic powder, dried onions, dried basil, Italian seasoning and LOTS of pepper (no salt)
–Add extra virgin olive oil — a teeny bit less than the vinegar
–Mix it up
–Get both sides of the steak wet with the marinade
–Take garlic powder and pepper and shake a lot onto one side of the steak, then rub it in deeply. Repeat on the other side.
–Marinate the steak, turning it now and then. I just did it for an hour and a half and the flavor was GREAT. It’d probably be better if you did it for longer.

I’m still finding out how to cook steak — and now I can say that you have to take the steak OUT of the fridge for at least half an hour before cooking it, because it will be too cold. (I thought I had the perfect steak, but it was a COLD, RAW red center instead of a WARM, RED one!)

Add more pepper to each side of the steak, then pan-sear it with a little olive oil in the pan for a minute to a minute and a half on each side.

I’m also becoming a fan of roasted asparagus. It’s delicious and so easy! The flavor is much more pronounced than when you just boil or steam it.

–Prepare the asparagus (break it at the point where it breaks, wash, etc.)
–Pre-heat oven to 450 degrees
–Lay the asparagus out on a cooking sheet and cover with salt and extra virgin olive oil.
–Roast in the oven for eight minutes. If you can smell it, it’s done.
